US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Betts Meets with Bahrain’s Interior Minister – Eurasia Review

Bahrain’s Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, met on Wednesday with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political and Military Affairs and Acting Coordinator of the Office of Counterterrorism, Timothy Betts , in the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of Bahrain to the United States, Sheikh Abdullah. bin Rashid Al Khalifa and Deputy Head of Public Security Major General Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.

The US official welcomed the visit of HE the Minister of Interior, underlining its importance for the development of the existing friendship between the two countries. He stressed the continued strengthening of security cooperation and coordination and exchange of expertise between the two countries, especially in training programs and the latest equipment and technologies. He commended the Kingdom of Bahrain’s counter-terrorism efforts and the fight against all forms of support and financing of terrorism.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Interior of Bahrain affirmed the efforts of the Ministry of Interior to protect security and enhance stability by developing and upgrading security work, combating crimes, expanding operations and achieving excellence in performance to provide high security services.

He praised the security cooperation and the level of exchange of expertise between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States within the framework of the strategic partnership and strong ties between the two friendly countries.

The meeting discussed the importance of joint work in various areas of security, including cybersecurity, joint exercises and related MoUs. The two sides discussed topics to develop joint cooperation.
