Gatlinburg Seeks Assistant Director | New
GATLINBURG – The city is looking for a Deputy City Manager and the application process continues until November 4.
“The reintroduction of the position of Deputy City Manager, City Organization will be a valuable addition to our management team,” said Cindy Cameron Ogle, City Manager of Gatlinburg.
Salary for the position will be determined based on experience.
“The Deputy City Manager will assist the City Manager in various executive and management functions and operations,” said Seth Butler, chief public information officer.
“These include assisting with financial planning, budget preparation and administration, and reviewing financial reports, as well as assisting in the development of operational policies for City departments, the assists in the preparation of financial statements and reports for the Municipal Commission and auditors and reviewing and preparing reports and recommendations for the General Manager.
Qualifications include graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, financial management, business or public administration or a closely related field, as well as a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in government that demonstrates a broad knowledge of government functions and at least 10 years of managerial and supervisory experience.
The application period ends at 4 p.m. on November 4. No timeline has been set for interviews or for hiring someone for the job.
The city held the last post when Cameron Ogle was deputy city manager before being hired as city manager.
Ogle has served the city as the city’s general manager since 1989. She has served the city for 42 years, first joining the staff as a grants coordinator in 1978 before being promoted to deputy city manager. same year, which she held for 10 years before being appointed city manager. As Deputy Warden, she served under three different City Managers: Joe Yarbrough, Jack Arthur and Jimmy Varner.
