Call for the development of a management policy for mini-micro hydel stations – Pakistan
PESHAWAR: The Policy Board of the Provincial Energy Development Organization (PEDO) ordered the development of a uniform policy for the efficient management and operation of the micro-hydro mini power plants established by the organization in the whole province.
The PEDO Policy Board meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. Special Assistant to CM on Energy and Electricity Sahibzada Saeed Ahmad, Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Finance Secretary Ikramullah, Energy and Electricity Secretary Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah, Legal Secretary Abid Majeed, CEO of PEDO Muhammad Naeem and other board members attended the Meeting.
KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has asked the relevant departments to present a detailed performance report of the Provincial Energy Development Organization (PEDO) to the board at its next meeting. It further called on the authorities concerned to take the necessary measures to propose changes to the relevant law of the PEDO in order to improve its overall performance and efficiency.
The Policy Board, after deliberations on PEDO’s revised budget for fiscal year 2020-21 and its budget forecasts for year 2021-22, decided to refer the matter to the relevant finance committee for necessary consideration before submission to the guidance board for final approval. The forum also referred the issue regarding the creation of project posts for various new hydropower projects to the relevant committee for necessary consideration.
Likewise, the board of directors also gave its approval to submit the resignation of a private member of the PEDO policy board to the provincial cabinet for approval and ordered the relevant authorities to present a panel of candidates to the provincial cabinet for appointment against the vacant post. The PEDO Policy Board also confirmed the minutes of its last meeting.
