Assistant Service Manager – Pathways to Recovery Team Employment with York City Council

CYC is looking for an Assistant Service Manager to support the Pathways to Recovery team.

The team is formed to provide the following services:

  • Shift the focus from the hospital to the community; from ‘disease’ to the whole person, whole life – work within the hospital is focused on restoring and utilizing the person’s strengths, goals, interests and wishes; while connecting the person to their community.
  • Promote co-produced support, by placing as much control as possible with the person
  • Make sure the right team/network supports the person
  • Support timely discharge
  • Minimize the risk of a person having to return to hospital
  • Ensure the right support is provided at the right time to create the best opportunities for recovery
  • Ensure people can leave the hospital safely and at the right time for them
  • Make sure the person and loved ones feel supported on discharge and know where to go for further support/help
  • Reduce the need to switch from holding under s2 to s3 to s117 of the MHA 1983.
  • Consider the person’s follow-up needs.

Managing social workers and working closely with colleagues in the NHS and the third sector and with teams of social prescribers is a fascinating role which, while rewarding, will allow you to develop as a manager.

The role is primarily based in Foss Park, but there will be site attendance expectations in the community and in the Western offices in York.

This is a 24 month fixed term position.

York City Council is committed to protecting and promoting the well-being of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We require the successful candidate to undertake an extensive criminal record check through the Disclosure and Barring service.

At this time, due to the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, some of our employees are working remotely from home, but a return to a combination of remote and physical working from Council offices is planned. in a close future.

As a newcomer, your contract location will be the designated council office for your team. Your working arrangements will vary depending on your department and role, as well as current government guidelines. For many roles, there will be more opportunities in the future for remote and hybrid working. However, with this comes the expectation that as workplaces open up, there will likely be an ongoing and occasional requirement to travel to the workplace.

The Council is committed to investing in the talent and well-being of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the local government pension scheme, comprehensive health and well-being initiatives and a rewards package that recognizes your contribution. We can offer flexible work practices, community involvement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous learning and development. In addition, we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.
